Friendship Lamps communicate through groups. When lamps are in the same group, a physical touch from one lamp can light the other online lamps in that group.
If you need to change who is connected, you may need to remove a lamp, leave a group, or create a new group.
Can I remove someone from a group?
Group management options may vary depending on how the group was created and which app or account is being used.
If you do not see an option to remove a specific lamp or person, the simplest option may be to create a new group and invite only the lamps you want included.
Creating a new group
To create a new group:
- Open the Friendship Lamps App or web manager.
- Create a new group.
- Invite the lamps or users you want included.
- Have each person accept the invitation.
- Test the group by touching one lamp.
Once the new group is active, the lamps in that group will communicate with each other.
What happens to the old group?
A lamp can only be in one regular group at a time.
If a lamp joins a new group, it will no longer receive touches from the previous group.
People in the previous group may notice that a lamp is no longer connected or responding in that group.
Can someone be removed secretly?
Friendship Lamps are designed around clear, intentional connections. Lamps must be invited, accepted, and grouped intentionally so people know who they are connected with.
We do not support hidden group membership or secret removals.
If you need help changing a group, our support team can help explain the available options.
If a lamp was claimed by a new account
If a lamp is claimed by an account that is not already part of its current group, the lamp may be removed from that group.
This can happen when:
- A gifted lamp is claimed by the recipient
- A secondhand lamp is claimed by a new owner
- Someone signs into a different app account
- A lamp changes ownership
The lamp will need to be invited to the intended group again.
If someone no longer has the lamp
If a person no longer has access to their lamp, or the lamp has changed owners, contact support for help reviewing the situation.
Please include the Lamp ID if you have it.
If you want separate conversations
If you want to stay connected with different people separately, there are a few options:
- Create one shared group for everyone
- Create a new group with only selected lamps
- Use multiple lamps for multiple regular groups
- Use Circles for app-based touches to selected people, if you have an active subscription feature
A physical touch on a lamp sends to the lamp’s regular group. Circles are for app-based touches only.
