Can One Lamp Be in More Than One Group?

A Friendship Lamp can only be in one regular group at a time.

When you touch the physical lamp, the touch is sent to the lamps in that group. If you want to communicate with a different regular group, the lamp would need to be moved to that group.

What happens if I switch groups?

If you move a lamp from one group to another, it will no longer receive touches from the previous group.

For example, if your lamp is currently in a family group and you move it to a friend group, it will stop receiving touches from the family group.

A lamp can only listen for touches from its current group.

Can I switch back later?

Yes, you can move a lamp to a different group later, but it will only communicate with the group it is currently in.

You may miss touches from the previous group while the lamp is not part of that group.

What if I want to stay connected to two groups at once?

If you want to receive physical lamp touches from two separate groups at the same time, you would need more than one lamp.

Each lamp can belong to a different group.

For example:

• One lamp can be in your family group
• Another lamp can be in your friend group

This allows both groups to communicate separately.

Can Circles help?

Circles may help if you want more flexible app-based sending.

Circles are different from regular lamp groups. A physical touch on your lamp still sends to the lamp’s regular group, but Circles can let you send app-based touches to selected people or smaller groups through the Friendship Lamps App.

Circles require an active subscription feature.

Can Remote Touch help?

Remote Touch lets you send a touch from the Friendship Lamps App instead of physically touching the lamp.

Depending on your setup, Remote Touch and Circles may help you send to selected people without changing your lamp’s regular group.

Remote Touch does not make one physical lamp belong to multiple regular groups at the same time.

Can I create one big group instead?

Yes. If everyone is comfortable being in the same group, you can add multiple lamps to one group.

When anyone touches their physical lamp, all online lamps in that group can receive the touch.

This works well for many families and friend groups, but it may not be ideal if you want separate conversations.
