How to tell if you have 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi

Friendship Lamps connect to 2.4GHz WiFi networks. Most modern routers broadcast two types of WiFi:

• 2.4GHz – longer range, used by many smart devices
• 5GHz – faster speeds for phones, computers, and streaming

Sometimes these networks have different names, and sometimes they are combined under one name.

✅ Method 1: Check Available Wi-Fi Networks

Open the Wi-Fi settings on your phone or computer and look at the available networks.

You might see something like:

  • Your WIFI

  • YourWifi_5G

If you see two options, choose the one without "5G" or "5GHz" in the name.
That is usually the 2.4GHz network.

✅ Method 2: Check the Network Details on Your Phone

On Android

  1. Connect to your WiFi network.

  2. Go to Settings → Network & Internet → WiFi.

  3. Tap the gear icon next to your connected network.

  4. Look for Frequency or Band.

It will show 2.4GHz or 5GHz.

(Steps may vary slightly depending on your device.)

What If My Router Combines Both Networks?

Many routers combine the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks into one name.

This is normal. In most cases, your Friendship Lamp will still connect automatically.

If setup fails, you may need to temporarily enable or switch to a 2.4GHz-only network in your router settings.

Your internet provider or router manufacturer can usually help with this if needed.
