Most Friendship Lamps and Frames do not need a subscription for normal lamp-to-lamp communication.
However, there are two subscription-related topics customers often ask about: Remote Touch and FriendLi. They are different.
What is Remote Touch?
Remote Touch is an optional app feature that lets you send a touch from your phone through the Friendship Lamps App.
With Remote Touch, you can send a touch even when you are not physically near your lamp.
Remote Touch may also include app-based features such as:
- Phone notifications
- Circles
- Individual or smaller-group app touches
- Extended Warranty coverage while the subscription remains active
Remote Touch is optional for most Friendship Lamps and Frames.
What is FriendLi?
FriendLi is a Friendship Lamps product that requires an active subscription to work.
Each FriendLi lamp needs its own active subscription.
If a FriendLi does not have an active subscription or cannot verify its subscription, it may pulse red.
Do I need a subscription for my Friendship Lamp?
Most Friendship Lamps and Frames do not require a subscription for regular lamp-to-lamp use.
You do not need a subscription just to:
- Touch your lamp
- Light up the other lamps in your group
- Receive touches from other lamps
- Use standard lamp colors and settings
- Connect compatible Friendship Lamps and Frames together
A subscription is required for:
- FriendLi lamps
- Remote Touch app features
- Phone notifications
- Circles
- Extended Warranty coverage tied to the active subscription
Remote Touch and physical lamp touches are different
A regular touch on the physical lamp sends to the lamps in its group.
Remote Touch sends from the Friendship Lamps App instead of from the physical lamp.
This is useful if you are away from home, traveling, or want to send a touch without being near your lamp.
What are Circles?
Circles are an app feature that lets you send touches to selected people or smaller groups from the Friendship Lamps App.
A physical lamp touch still sends to the lamp’s regular group.
If you want to send to only one person or a smaller group, use the app-based Circle feature when available.
What are notifications?
Notifications are phone alerts from the Friendship Lamps App.
They can let you know when your synced lamp receives a touch from someone in your group.
Notifications are separate from the lamp lighting up. Your lamp may still light up normally even if phone notifications are not enabled.
Subscription limits
A mobile device can have a subscription plan for up to three lamps.
Only one lamp can be actively synced to the app at a time for Remote Touch and notifications. Switching the synced lamp changes which lamp receives app-based features on that device.
If you need app features for more than three lamps, you may need another mobile device and app store account.
How subscriptions are billed
Subscriptions are managed through the app store account used to purchase them
Depending on your device, that may be:
- Apple App Store
- Google Play Store
Friendship Lamps support cannot directly cancel, change, or refund app-store subscriptions.
See How to Manage or Cancel a Friendship Lamps Subscription for help.
Quick summary
- Regular Friendship Lamps and Frames: No subscription required for normal lamp-to-lamp communication.
- Remote Touch: Optional subscription feature for sending touches from the app, notifications, Circles, and Extended Warranty coverage.
- FriendLi: Requires an active subscription for each FriendLi lamp to work.
