Use these steps if you changed your Wi-Fi name or password, replaced your router, moved your lamp to another location, or need to connect it to a different network.
Reconnecting your lamp will not remove it from its group or erase its saved settings, as long as you use the same Lamp ID. Friendship Lamps connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. Most combined 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks will work, but you may need to temporarily enable or connect through the 2.4 GHz network if setup fails.
Before You Begin
Make sure:
- Your phone or tablet is connected to the Wi-Fi network you want the lamp to use.
- You know the correct Wi-Fi name and password.
- The lamp is plugged in and close to your router during setup.
- Any VPN on your phone or tablet is temporarily turned off.
Be careful when entering your Wi-Fi password. Phones sometimes add an extra space at the end.
Option 1: Update the Wi-Fi Credentials in the App
This is the quickest option if your lamp is still connected and the setting appears in the app.
- Open the Friendship Lamps App.
- Tap the three-line menu icon.
- Select Update WiFi Credentials.
- Follow the prompts to enter the new Wi-Fi network name and password.
- Wait for the lamp to save the new information and reconnect.
Once connected, the lamp should flash rainbow colors and then go dark, indicating that it is online and ready to use.
Option 2: Reconnect Through Wi-Fi Setup
Use this option if the lamp is already offline or you do not see Update WiFi Credentials in the app.
- Open the Friendship Lamps App.
- Select WiFi Setup.
- Tap Set up my lamp.
- Unplug the lamp, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in.
- Follow the prompts and select WiFi/Bluetooth Setup.
- Select Other Lamp when asked which lamp you are setting up.
- When prompted, open your phone or tablet’s Wi-Fi settings and join the lamp’s temporary network.
The network will appear as:
Filimin_XXXXXX
The final characters should match your Lamp ID.
If prompted for a password, enter:
I love you
The password is case-sensitive and includes spaces.
- Return to the Friendship Lamps App.
- Select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
- Tap Save.
The lamp may blink green or yellow while saving and connecting. Once connected, it should flash rainbow colors and then go dark.
If you are setting up a FriendLi, make sure it has an active subscription.
Setting Up Without the App
You can also update the lamp’s Wi-Fi information through a web browser.
Follow our Advanced Setup Guide for step-by-step instructions.
Your lamp will remain registered and connected to its existing group when you reconnect using the same Lamp ID.
If Your Lamp Will Not Enter Setup Mode
First, unplug the lamp for 10 seconds and plug it back in. Wait to see whether it reconnects or begins blinking green or yellow.
If it still will not enter setup mode, a factory reset may be necessary.
Factory Reset
- Leave the lamp plugged in.
- Unplug and plug it back in four times quickly.
- After the fourth time, watch for the reset sequence.
For lamps with firmware version 1.9.1 or newer:
- The lamp will turn solid orange for about 30 seconds.
- While it is orange, firmly tap and hold the touch sensor three times.
- The lamp will flash rainbow colors and then begin blinking green or yellow.
For lamps with older firmware:
- The lamp may show a slow rainbow pattern and then begin blinking green or yellow.
Once the lamp begins blinking, repeat the Wi-Fi setup steps in the app.
A factory reset should only be necessary if the normal Wi-Fi setup process does not work.
Moving Between Two Locations
Some Friendship Lamps can remember two Wi-Fi networks. This may allow the lamp to reconnect automatically when moved between two previously saved locations.
If it does not reconnect automatically, repeat the Wi-Fi setup process at the new location.
If You Use a Filimin Bridge
A Filimin Bridge connects to your router through an Ethernet cable, so changing your wireless network name or password normally will not disconnect the lamp.
If you replaced your router or moved the bridge to another location, connect the bridge to the new router and follow the Bridge Setup Guide if necessary.
Still Having Trouble?
- The Filimin network does not appear.
- The Lamp ID shown in the Filimin network does not match the label.
- The lamp remains stuck on one color.
- The lamp does not turn on or blink.
- Setup repeatedly fails after checking the network name and password.
Please include your Lamp ID and a photo of the label on the bottom of the lamp so we can help more quickly.
